Thank you to Life of an Angela for the nomination! Check out this Wellingtonian’s awesome blog that covers a variety of topics, from travel experiences, to the beauty of nature, to family life, to books and movies–among other interesting takes on issues. Her blog has definitely inspired me to step up my game! Here’s the link:ย https://lifeofanangela.wordpress.com

My story:
I started this blog a couple months ago after having traveled to 25 countries in under a year (with 23 in a span 9 months). So I was a little behind. Buuuut I run on my own time. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’m settling into life as a traveler/part-time worker in Wellington for a few months, with big goals to see more countries after exploring as much of NZ as I can. I blog because I love sharing experiences through writing, and because I hope to encourage more solo female travelers (and guys, too) to ditch their fears and hit the road! I also enjoy breaking down stereotypes regarding gender roles and “shoulds” in life. I’ve generally been posting twice a week: with one post on Kiwi life and a weekly TBT post about a past trip. I’m new to travel blogging, so your suggestions and comments are more than welcome!

2 suggestions for new bloggers:

1. Because I was an English major in college once upon a time: edit! Edit, edit, edit. ๐Ÿ™‚ I catch so many typos of my own in final read-throughs, and I think it’s so important, even during times of lazy grammar on social media, to take proofreading seriously when it comes to blog posts–just as you would in a published article.

2. Read other blogs! It sounds obvious, but I’d been so caught up worrying about my own content and the ins and outs of social media that the importance of reading lots of blogs (more than I already did) didn’t dawn on me right away. Make friends with other bloggers; chances are, you’ll have a lot in common and can learn from one another!

  1. Well done for the nomination, and thanks for passing it forward! 25 countries in under a year – now that is impressive! Can’t wait to read all about them. Your suggestions are really good, I think reading other blogs is so so important! It also helps me remember the little things about a destination I may have forgotten! THANK YOU!

  2. Hey Liz! Thank you so much for the nomination. I was also an English major. I like editing as I write, yet I always manage to find errors when I reread. That advice is so excellent. I’ve been starting my life of travel recently and it’s so inspiring to see how much you have done, to see what’s possible. Everyone, particularly women, who tend to be more fearful, can be encouraged by your example. Keep up the awesomeness.

      • Yes for sure. I’m learning so much in preparing for my trip to Thailand coming up. So much I didn’t know. Thankfully, I will be better equipped for next time and know (more of) what to expect. I’ve got my adapter and portable charger and vaccines, etc.

    • Thanks for the advice and feedback! I’ve been trying to learn more tips for things like inserting links; I sometimes struggle because I’m using an iPad while abroad. If you can offer any advice, I’m all ears!

      • Yes of course! It is probably more fiddly on an Ipad…Hang on…let me try it …

        I did it! Lol.

        Here’s the instructions:
Press and hold over the text you want to copy. After around 2 seconds a magnifying glass appears and the word it intends to select is highlighted in blue.
Move the magnifier around until it highlights the word you want, then let go.
Tap the Copy button that appears above the selected text.

Plus I got a chance to look around some more of your posts whilst fiddling with the Ipad. Great pics! ๐Ÿ™‚
